#6 A visual feast by the sea

Walking in to a Chanel show, one never knows what to expect. Karl Lagerfeld and co. have shipped an iceberg into the Grand Palais, turned the space into a woodland wonderland, and even launched a mock rocket ship.

Scenes

Chanel doesn’t do simple or understated when it comes to runway shows—and this season was no exception. For Spring 2019, Karl Lagerfeld transformed Paris’s Grand Palais into Chanel By The Sea—a sandy and serene beach getaway complete with its own ocean and on-duty lifeguard.

Chanel not only restored the fine white sand of the real beach, but also made the lifelike scene of waves hitting the shore with special technology. The models wandered on the beach with fine and soft sand. They enjoyed the sea breeze under the sunny blue sky.

Garments

There were oversized straw hats, vacation-ready swimsuits, and Chanel logos in the form of belts, bathing suits, and cardigans.

Accessories

For accessories, there were bags and sandals that will still be popular until next spring/summer. A series of colorful logo sandals were carried down the runway in pinks, blues, and a classic black and white logo flat that’s sure to take over amongst the fashion crowd next season.

Most interesting, however, was the fact that models carried not one, but two Chanel handbags at a time. After all, more is more in the land of Chanel.
